Acquisition Will Allow Delinea to Detect Overprivileged Access, Company Says

California privileged access management vendor Delinea announced it will acquire identity governance and administration vendor Fastpath.

The acquisition is Delinea’s second of the calendar year, coming weeks after it bought Israeli startup Authomize in a bid to extend its reach in multi-cloud environments (see: PAM Provider Delinea Acquires Israeli Startup Authomize).

Terms of the deal, which is subject to regulatory review, are not public. The Fastpath acquisition will transform Delinea into “the definitive source for managing authorization across infrastructure, applications, and data, providing unmatched insights and control over user access and privileges,” the company said in a Wednesday press release.

“The addition of Fastpath will empower the Delinea Platform to dynamically control authorizations by assessing user risk. This advanced approach is crucial for securing modern, distributed environments across infrastructure, applications, and data” said Art Gilliland, CEO of Delinea.

Gartner in 2023 kept Delinea at a top spot on its privileged access management Magic Quadrant, characterizing the PAM market as one of “midstage maturity” (see: CyberArk, BeyondTrust, Delinea Dominate Gartner MQ for PAM).

Colorado-based Fastpath received an undisclosed investment from private equity firm Pamlico Capital Management. The investing firm said it invests up to $200 million for “control-oriented growth equity investments.” Fastpath was founded in 2004 by Andy Snook; its current CEO is Charles Snellgrove.

Delinea said it will integrate Fastpath identity governance and administration functions into its identity threat detection and response technology to identify cases of overprivileged access and deploy automated remediation. The company relies on a combination of user risk score and the value of data being accessed, said Calvin in a blog post.

“We believe privilege, not just identity, is the true security perimeter,” Calvin said. The acquisition will also extend Delinea’s reach into provisioning user accounts and access rights.
