Rami Raulas on Why SSH Plans to Invest in Zero Trust, OT Defense and Quantum Safety

OT security plays a critical role in protecting infrastructure and industrial systems from increasingly sophisticated cyberthreats. That’s why SSH Communications Security is investing in OT security solutions, said Rami Raulas, who spoke to Information Security Media Group this week after settling in to his new role as interim CEO of the Finnish cybersecurity company.

“Most of the ransomware today occurs in OT, where systems were not designed with security in mind,” Raulas said. “Operational technology, by definition, was built for efficiency and productivity, not for security, making it the easiest to attack.”

SSH under Raulas also plans to build on existing investments around enhancing key management to prevent unauthorized access and developing quantum-resistant encryption to protect against future threats. The company has also made gains in expanding its zero trust architecture to ensure secure, minimal privilege access across all operations (see: SSH Exec Rami Raulas Named Interim CEO in Finnish Shakeup).

Raulas, who joined SSH Communications Security in 2016, has served on the company’s executive management team as head of EMEA since 2021. He previously held international leadership positions in sales and business management, marketing, and product management in global companies. His previous employers include Ahlstrom, Aspocomp, ICL, Fujitsu, Fujitsu-Siemens and Nokia.
