Cisco Nexus Dashboard LDAP Username Enumeration Vulnerability

Medium

CVE-2025-20150

CWE-209

Summary

  • A vulnerability in Cisco Nexus Dashboard could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to enumerate LDAP user accounts.

This vulnerability is due to the improper handling of LDAP authentication requests. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending authentication requests to an affected system. A successful exploit could allow an attacker to determine which usernames are valid LDAP user accounts.

Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

This advisory is available at the following link:
    https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-nd-unenum-2xFFh472

Affected Products

  • At the time of publication, this vulnerability affected Cisco Nexus Dashboard if LDAP was configured as a remote authentication provider.

For information about which Cisco software releases were vulnerable at the time of publication, see the Fixed Software section of this advisory. See the Details section in the bug ID at the top of this advisory for the most complete and current information.

Determine Whether LDAP Is Configured as a Remote Authentication Provider

To detemine whether LDAP is configured as a remote authentication provider, do the following steps:

    1. Go to the Nexus Dashboard Admin Console.
    2. From the main navigation menu, choose Admin > Authentication.
    3. For the configured Login Domains, check the Realm column to see if LDAP is configured and if there is a non-zero number in the Providers column.

If there is a login domain that has LDAP configured under the Realm column and a non-zero number in Providers column, the software is affected by this vulnerability.

Note: Only LDAP authentication is affected by this vulnerability. All other authentication methods are not affected by this vulnerability.

Only products listed in the Vulnerable Products section of this advisory are known to be affected by this vulnerability.

Workarounds

  • There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

Fixed Software

  • When considering software upgrades, customers are advised to regularly consult the advisories for Cisco products, which are available from the Cisco Security Advisories page, to determine exposure and a complete upgrade solution.

In all cases, customers should ensure that the devices to be upgraded contain sufficient memory and confirm that current hardware and software configurations will continue to be supported properly by the new release. If the information is not clear, customers are advised to contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) or their contracted maintenance providers.

    Fixed Releases

At the time of publication, the release information in the following table was accurate. See the Details section in the bug ID at the top of this advisory for the most complete and current information.
