Thirty-eight cybersecurity-related merger and acquisition (M&A) deals were announced in March 2023.
An analysis conducted by SecurityWeek shows that more than 450 cybersecurity-related mergers and acquisitions were announced in 2022.

Branddocs acquires and merges with TrustCloud
Branddocs, a provider of secure digital transactions and video verification services, has announced the acquisition of and merger with trust assurance platform TrustCloud, which provides identity verification, authentication and authorization, encryption, digital signature verification, e-vaulting and e-archiving services.
Private equity firm Cinven is in the process of acquiring integrated risk management solutions provider Archer from RSA Security. The goal is to create a global leader in governance, risk and compliance (GRC) technology solutions.
Core4ace acquires PatchAdvisor
Core4ce, a company specializing in data and defensive cyber operations, has acquired IT security firm PatchAdvisor. Both companies provide their services to US government agencies. The deal adds penetration testing capabilities to Core4ce offerings, while Core4ce will enable PatchAdvisor to scale and service larger customer sets.
Columbus A/S acquires ICY Security
Enterprise IT services provider Columbus A/S has signed an agreement to purchase cybersecurity company ICY Security ApS, which specializes in identity and access management (IAM) solutions. The deal enables Columbus to expand its business. Both companies are based in Denmark.
Ericsson-owned wireless WAN and private cellular solutions provider Cradlepoint has bought Israel-based Ericom Software and its enterprise cloud security platform in an effort to solidify its SASE and zero trust offerings for hybrid 5G and wireline environments.
Frequentis, an Austria-based company that develops communication and information systems for air traffic management, public safety and transport, is expanding its cybersecurity capabilities with the acquisition of Germany-based Frafos, which specializes in IT security solutions for VoIP communication.
Iliad acquires majority stake in iTrust
The Iliad Group has acquired a majority stake in cybersecurity firm ITrust to expand the offering of its telecom and cloud services subsidiary Free Pro. ITrust provides assessment, SIEM and threat hunting solutions, as well as managed EDR and SOC services. The companies are based in France.
US-based brand protection company OpSec Security has announced plans to buy Denmark-based intellectual property (IP) management and protection firm Zacco. The deal enables the companies to expand their offerings.
Sys Labs acquires FortKnoxster
Web3 company Sys Labs has acquired FortKnoxster, a blockchain cybersecurity firm founded by Danish entrepreneurs and IT security specialists. They also announced the launch of their first decentralized application (DApp).
Cloud, security, and data and analytics solutions provider Trace3 has acquired Set Solutions, which specializes in cybersecurity consulting and procurement solutions. The deal helps Trace3 expand and strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities.
Cybersecurity and compliance solutions and services company Utimaco has acquired data protection firm Conpal as part of its expansion efforts. Both companies are based in Germany.

Web security company Akamai is acquiring API security firm Neosec. Neosec’s technology will complement Akamai’s application and API security portfolio.
Allurity acquires CloudComputing and Securix
European cybersecurity services provider Allurity has acquired Portugal-based CloudComputing and Swiss firm Securix in an effort to strengthen its position in southern and central Europe. CloudComputing specializes in identity, zero trust and information security, while Securix focuses on identity security, observability, and consulting.
Tech solutions provider Ascenda is expanding its cybersecurity portfolio with the purchase of extended detection and response (XDR) company Xdr.global.
ASRC Federal acquires Broadleaf
Government contractor ASRC Federal has announced the acquisition of Broadleaf, a provider of cybersecurity, network engineering and cloud services. The deal helps ASRC expand its presence with the Defense Department and federal civilian agencies.
Charlesbank Capital Partners acquires Maltego
Private investment firm Charlesbank Capital Partners, through its Charlesbank Technology Opportunities Funds, has acquired Maltego, an intelligence platform used by law enforcement, journalists and researchers. The new owner is investing over $100 million in Maltego to accelerate growth and development.
Drumz acquires Acuity Risk Management
Investment company Drumz is acquiring integrated risk management firm Acuity Risk Management, reportedly for £3.6 million ($4.5 million). Drumz, which is changing its name to Acuity RM Group following the acquisition, previously owned 25% of Acuity shares. Both companies are based in the UK.
Tech firm FourNet has enhanced its cybersecurity and network infrastructure offering with the acquisition of Nowcomm, a company that provides cybersecurity, network infrastructure and collaboration solutions. Both companies are based in the UK.
F-Secure acquires Lookout’s consumer mobile security business
Consumer cybersecurity company F-Secure is acquiring the consumer mobile security business of cloud and endpoint security firm Lookout. Following the deal, Lookout will become a pure-play enterprise company.
Kaseya acquires Vonahi Security
IT and security management solutions provider Kaseya has acquired automated network penetration testing platform Vonahi Security. Vonahi will continue to provide its products to customers and it will be working on integrating its technology into Kaseya’s offering.
MajorKey Technologies acquires Legion Star
IT and business consulting firm MajorKey Technologies has acquired cloud security and identity management company Legion Star as part of its pureplay information security strategy.
Investment and advisory firm NightDragon has announced buying cloud application security company vArmour. vArmour will continue to operate as an independent company following the acquisition.
Parsons acquires IPKeys Power Partners
Parsons, a company that provides technology services for government agencies and critical infrastructure, has completed the acquisition of IPKeys Power Partners for $43 million. IPKeys provides cybersecurity and other technology solutions for cities and utilities, and its acquisition enables Parsons to boost its cybersecurity and IT/OT software offerings.
SEK, an Argentina-based company that offers a wide range of cybersecurity services and solutions, has acquired Brazil-based CleanCloud, whose solutions are designed to help organizations detect cloud vulnerabilities. The deal enables SEK to expand its offering.
Smile Identity acquires Appruve
Nigeria-based identity verification and user onboarding solutions provider Smile Identity has acquired Inclusive Innovations, the parent company of Appruve, a Ghana-based firm that provides an API for user identity verification, fraud detection, and regulatory compliance.
Telsy, a TIM Group company specialized in cybersecurity, has acquired threat intelligence firm TS-Way in an effort to enhance and expand its offering. Both companies are based in Italy.
Hardware authentication company Yubico plans on going public at a valuation of $800 million by merging with ACQ Bure AB, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC).
ZeroFox has acquired threat intelligence and attack surface management company LookingGlass for $26 million.
