Over 1.3 million customers across the U.S. are being alerted by mortgage servicing company LoanCare that a data breach at its parent company, Fidelity National Financial, may have compromised their private information.
With 1.2 million loans and $390 billion in balances under management, LoanCare is a major player in the mortgage servicing industry, offering both sub-servicing and interim sub-servicing services.
Fidelity National Financial, its parent company and a prominent title insurance in the United States, disclosed the cyberattack last week in a SEC filing.
After making the announcement, LoanCare notified the authorities of the occurrence, shared a copy of the notice that affected persons received, and put a notice about it on its website.
On or about November 19, 2023, LoanCare, LLC (“LoanCare”), which performs or has performed loan subservicing functions for your mortgage loan servicer, became aware of unauthorized access to certain systems within its parent’s, Fidelity National Financial, Inc. (“FNF”), information technology network.

What Data Was Exposed?
With the assistance of specialized state authorities and outside experts, the investigation demonstrated that the attackers were able to obtain client information from Fidelity National Financial’s networks, including:
- Full name;
- Physical address;
- Social Security Numbers (SSN);
- Loan number.
Such data can be further used by the attackers in targeted phishing campaigns, social engineering, and scamming attacks, so LoanCare’s customers who have been notified regarding the data breach, and not only, should remain vigilant against unsolicited communications.
